Wrong Send.

Dear soon-to-be alumni,

My thoughts will be with you this Sunday as you graduate from our university. This Sunday you will no longer be UP students, but forever alumni of our common alma mater.

It was my pleasure being part of your journey at UP. And I hope you had a great time during the trip, and that you will continue returning to UP even if life brings you to many distant places. I will eventually be back to welcome you there.

I know times are tough nowadays with the global downturn. And those of you who have yet to find a viable job, please e-mail me asap and I’ll see if I can find some work that might interest you.

Until then, enjoy this, your moment of triumph—and make it last.

Best regards,
Sir Ernan

*I must admit, if I didn’t know better about UP and commercialization schemes, about how elitist education is nowadays and why professionals, like my father, become vulnerable to being sacked, I would’ve found this note the sweetest.

But it’s otherwise.

But I’m not graduating. The moment of triumph I am working for is of another kind. And it’s not only mine.
